Today in class we reviewed the whole time for our test tomorrow. the whole class was given the opportunities to ask any questions we had or we thought would be on the test. we talked about A Message To Garcia , ancient Greece and Socrates. We asked questions such as... what is n Agora, what type of government did Greece have, who is President Mckinley, what is the moral of the story, etc. We talked about Socrates and his trial and death. we talked about his life quote and more. It was nice to have a chance to talk about this and review for the big test. it is our first test and Mr. Shick said if we all get an A, then he will bring us cookies. I hope I get a good grade on this test because it will be a good way to start the year.

In Friday's class we talked mostly about maps. We reviewed the worksheet that we did in the previous class and talked about each map. Then we looked at two maps; the Peters map and the Mercator map. the Mercator map was created early on and was used to help sailors travel. So since the Mercator map is incorrect many people think certain continents and countries are more powerful or less powerful... just because of size. We also watched a clip from the movie "The East Ring", where we can see the Peters map being discuss...

Today in class we started by reviewing yesterdays research points and we especially went over Socrates. I learned that he actually thought that philosophers should run the government because they were more educated.  Then we talked about the definition of idiot, the Greeks used it as a way to describe people who weren't involved in their government and community. They were viewed as dishonorable. Then we took a look at socrates famous quote "an unexamined life is not worth living". This quote to me is looked in a way that if you don't live your life questioning and wondering things about our word, then is there really a point to live? Why would you want to live a dull meaningless life? Socrates firmly believed this as well. We also spent time in class discussing hurricane Irma, as a way of questioning our life, today's class was very eventful and I felt like I learned a lot of useful information that will be used for the test.
