Today in Human Geo we did a mini research project. We continued a little on the topic of excellence and A Message To Garcia, but we further explored Greek culture. We researched agora, polis, Socrates, Socrative method, the significance of 508 BC, and we also looked at what the word "idiot" mean to the greeks. Agora is the spiritual and political life of the city, used for polls and decisions for the government. Socrates is a Greek philosopher and is considered the founder of Western philosophy. He was put on trial for impiety and the corruption of Athen's youth. He lost the trial and was sentenced to death by poison hemlock. The Socrative method was named and created after him and it is a system of asking a serious of questions in a debate. We also found out that in 508 BC democracy was first announced in Athens by Cleisthenes. This was also the first time ever that someone revolted against their leader. We are going to talk about the definition of idiot in tomorrows class because we didn't get to it today. Overall, today's class was very interesting and i learned a lot of new information.
